Google, YouTube and every AI assistant are great at answering a question you already know how to ask. None of them are much help with a path you've never heard of in the first place. So OpenDoors researches a small, growing set of those pathways properly: what one actually is, who it suits, what it costs in money and years, and a next step you can take this week. Two founders run it as a nonprofit, take no commission or sponsorship from any university or consultant, and it's free for students — not as an introductory offer, just free.

OpenDoors sits between a student and a set of decisions they're not really equipped to make alone. We don't educate, admit, or place anyone. We just widen what a student knows to consider, and tell the truth about what each option requires.
Who's behind it
Two founders, one non-negotiable
OpenDoors is built and run by Ashwitha and Nakshitha. It's strictly nonprofit and strictly free for students, and that's not a launch offer we'll walk back later. It's the whole point.

What happens to your information here
OpenDoors is built for students, and a lot of you are under 18, so we're writing this in plain language rather than legal boilerplate and being extra careful about what we collect. It follows the structure India's DPDP Act asks for (Section 5, Rule 3): an itemised list of what we collect, why, and how to undo it. It's still a draft, though. No lawyer's reviewed it yet, and a few gaps are called out honestly below instead of papered over.
Who's collecting this
OpenDoors Foundation is the Data Fiduciary for anything you submit on this site. Right now the only place we collect information at all is the . No accounts, no logins, nothing else on the site asks you for anything.

Consent
The Ask Us form only submits once you've separately ticked that you agree to this notice, and confirmed either you're 18+ or a parent/guardian is aware. Both boxes start unticked — nothing is assumed on your behalf. You can withdraw consent at any time by asking us to delete your data (see below); it's exactly as easy as giving it.
What we don't do
No selling or sharing your data. Nothing you submit goes to universities, advertisers, or any third party.
No targeted advertising. There are no ad networks on this site, and there never will be aimed at students.
No behavioural tracking. We're not profiling how you browse or building an ad profile of you.
No data kept longer than needed. We aim to delete your submission within 90 days of answering it, sooner if you ask.
Since most of you are under 18
India's DPDP Act has specific, stricter rules for anyone under 18 — including verified parental consent, using proper ID or age-verification technology, before processing a minor's data. We're honest that we don't have that verification infrastructure yet: today, the age/guardian-awareness checkbox on the form is a self-declaration, not a verified one. Treat this as a gap we know about and are building toward, not a claim that we've already solved it. In the meantime, we still hold ourselves to the substance of the child-data rules that don't need verification tech: no tracking, no targeted ads, no profiling, minimal collection — those apply in full, today.
Your rights over your own data
Access. Ask what we hold on you and we'll show you everything, in full.
Correction. Ask us to fix anything inaccurate or outdated.
Erasure. Ask us to delete your data entirely, at any time, for any reason.
Withdraw consent. Same effect as erasure — we stop holding your data.
Grievance redressal. If you're unhappy with how a request was handled, tell us that too — we treat it as a separate, escalated ask.
All of these go through one place right now — the — since we're small enough that a dedicated grievance officer or ticket system would be theatre, not substance. We aim to act within 7 days. As OpenDoors grows past a two-person team, a named grievance contact will replace this.
Language
This notice is currently in English only. DPDP asks for notices to be available in English or any of the 22 scheduled Indian languages — that's a real gap for a national student audience, and one of the first things we'll fix as OpenDoors grows.

The fine print, written like we mean it
This covers what OpenDoors is, what it isn't, and what happens if something on here turns out to be wrong. Like the Privacy Notice, this is a draft — not yet reviewed by a lawyer — written now because a student using this site deserves to know where they stand, not because we're waiting for a legal deadline.
What OpenDoors is
A free, independent information resource for students in Classes 11–12 researching degrees, exams, and countries. That's it. Using this site means you've read and agree to these terms — if you don't agree, the only ask we have is that you not use the site.
What OpenDoors is not
Not certified career counseling. Nobody answering your question on the Ask Us page holds a professional counseling licence. It's informed opinion from people who've researched your situation, not a substitute for a qualified counselor, and definitely not legal, financial, or medical advice.
Not a guarantee of admission, rank, or outcome. Nothing here promises you'll get into a university, clear a cutoff, or that a pathway will work out the way it's described.
Not an official source. For anything that decides your actual eligibility or application — cutoffs, deadlines, fees — the university's or exam board's own site is the authority, not us. We link to those sources specifically so you can verify.
Accuracy — what we promise, and what we can't
We research before we publish, and we date what we can. But exam cutoffs, rankings, and admission rules change — sometimes every year, sometimes mid-year. Where we genuinely don't have researched data (most of the university database, honestly), we say "Not yet researched" instead of guessing. Where we do show a number, treat it as a strong starting point to verify, not a final answer to act on unchecked.

We link out to places like Internshala, EC Database, university admissions pages, and various YouTube channels and exam boards. We don't run those sites, can't vouch for everything on them, and aren't responsible for what happens once you click through. We link to them because we think they're genuinely useful — not because we're paid to (we never are).

Most people using this site are. Nothing here requires payment, an account, or handing over more information than the Ask Us form asks for — see the for exactly what that is and why. If a parent or guardian has questions about what their kid submitted here, we'll answer them directly — just say so when you reach out.
Content and reuse
Everything OpenDoors writes is free to read, share, and link to. If you want to republish or reuse it elsewhere, credit OpenDoors and link back — we're not precious about it, we just don't want our research showing up somewhere with the honesty edited out.

We don't run our own internship board. Internshala already runs India's largest one, so we just point you there instead of building a worse copy. One honest note: it's built for college students and freshers more than for Class 11–12, so most listings assume some spare time and self-direction. Remote and part-time roles are still realistic if you're motivated.
Same idea as internships. EC Database already runs a large, filterable directory of competitions, science fairs, hackathons, summer programs, and volunteer roles for high schoolers, so we point to it rather than build a worse copy. It skews international and US-heavy in what it lists, so treat it as a starting point and pair it with India-specific searches (NIRF, JoSAA, your state board) for anything region-locked.

Every entry shows its official site and a contact address. Where we've actually researched a university, you'll see its rank, entry requirements, and cost shape too. Everywhere else just says "not yet researched" instead of a guess dressed up as an answer.

Everything below is something a student can start using today, for free. If a caution applies — a channel that skips something, or official sources beating YouTube — it's flagged before the list, not buried inside it.
JEE Main + JEE Advanced India · Engineering
Caution: this is the most saturated free-resource space in Indian ed-tech, and the real risk is decision fatigue rather than scarcity. Pick one spine channel plus a couple of subject specialists, not ten random ones. Student forums like Careers360 and Quora flag that some free channels teach shortcuts that fall apart on harder Advanced-level questions, so cross-check anything tricky against NCERT or PYQs.
Reminder: BITSAT uniquely tests English Proficiency + Logical Reasoning, which most JEE-focused channels skip entirely. Search for BITSAT-specific English/LR playlists separately, ideally in the last 3–4 weeks before the exam.
Vora Classes — has run free BITSAT crash-course livestreams (search "BITSAT crash course Vora Classes").
VITEEE, MET, SRMJEEE, COMEDK India · Private engineering
These overlap heavily with the JEE Main syllabus (roughly 65–75%), so a JEE Physics/Chemistry/Maths channel forms your base layer.
Several creators run joint "VITEEE/COMEDK/MET/BITSAT" live Q&A series since syllabi overlap — search these exam names together on YouTube (regional creators also run these Feb–May each year).
CrackRank and similar test-series platforms pair free YouTube content with free/paid mock tests for VITEEE and COMEDK. (search "CrackRank" — couldn't verify one official link.)
Official exam websites — VITEEE, COMEDK UGET (Manipal MET and SRMJEEE: search their name + "official site") — publish free previous-year papers, genuinely more useful than YouTube here: VITEEE is speed-based with shorter questions than JEE, COMEDK sits closer to Karnataka PU-board difficulty, and MET/SRMJEEE both run distinct question banks worth practicing directly.

Prioritize the official WBJEE Board's released previous-year papers — third-party WBJEE-specific channels are thin.
TS EAPCET / AP EAPCET (formerly EAMCET)
Tests Intermediate (state board)-level content, not full JEE-level difficulty — generic JEE channels often pitch content too advanced. Official portal: AP EAPCET (search "TS EAPCET" for Telangana's; older relevant content is archived under "EAMCET"). Sri Chaitanya, Narayana, and Sri Gayatri — originally coaching brands — now post substantial free live-class content targeted at the Telangana/AP Intermediate syllabus that EAPCET actually tests.
CUET (UG) India · Central universities
CUET spans NCERT Class 11–12 content across many domain subjects. Treat YouTube as revision/strategy support layered on top of NCERT textbooks, which remain the actual primary source material.
